Introduction
In an attempt to open
up your eyes to who you are; a royal priesthood, God’s heir, a conqueror, the
head and blessed son of God, this post is among a series of posts that analyses
the seven dangerous spirits that has blinded and oppressed you and in so doing,
making you a poor, ineffective, uninspiring and unattractive Christian
believer. This post delves the spirit of fear
The
Spirit of Fear
Fear is worry
Ø Fear
is the opposite of faith and you know what, with fear meaning without faith, it
is impossible to please God. When you want to please God, simply overcome fear
Ø In
2 Kings 7:3-9, the four lepers overcome their fear and walk into the enemy’s
camp. When they overcome their fear, they did not only save themselves from
hunger but also, the city by being used as vessels that will help make the word
of the prophet Elisha to come true. If the lepers had succumbed to their fear,
they would have died outside the gate and forgotten. But look at them now,
everywhere the bible is read, these men are remembered for their bravery and
lack of fear!
Ø Gen
15:1, ‘After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision,
saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.’ It
takes a step of faith to overcome fear and face what we do not know
Ø Fear
contradicts God’s word upon your life. In 2 Tim1:7, ‘For God hath not given us the spirit of
fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.’ Therefore, when you
allow fear to penetrate into your life, you are in fact, submitting to the will
of the devil because the will of God for you is to not fear
Ø Most
of the time as a believer, you are surrounded by people and events that
generates fear and as such there are different types of fear including
I.
Fear of the unknown
II.
Fear of failure
III.
Fear of people
IV.
Fear of death
V.
Fear of darkness
VI.
Fear of consequences
VII.
Fear of threats/ risks
Ø The
most devastating thing about the spirit of fear is that, it will make you
anxious, sick, stressed and worn out about things you have no control over
Ø In
Luke 12:25, Jesus asked his disciples ‘…who of you by worrying can add a single
hour to his life? And Jesus goes ahead to say ‘…since you cannot do this very
little thing, why do you worry about the rest?’
Ø As
noted in our previous posts, the seven dangerous spirits seems harmless and
innocent and that may explain why you may justify to yourself and others why
you fear and worry when God explicitly tells you not to.
Ø The
spirit of fear will not only prevent you from achieving God’s promises and
blessing in your life but also, it will breed cowardice in you and ensure you
are a front runner on your way to hell! Yes, it is that serious! The spirit of
fear will stop you from going to heaven.
Ø If you thought you were better of as a fearful
and cowardly Christian than a sinful unbelievers, prostitutes, witches or
murderers, idolaters and liars think twice because, you will be the first in
line to be scorched by the fiery lake of burning sulfur. If you are not yet
convinced, read Revelations 21:8
